Bass Peter Rose made his operatic debut in 1986 with Glyndebourne Festival Opera in Hong Kong as Commendatore in Don Giovanni. Upcoming engagements include Osmin, Ochs and Basilio for the Bayerische Staatsoper; Ochs for the Dresden Semperoper; Daland, Ochs and Gurnemanz for the Vienna Staatsoper; La Roche for Lyric Opera of Chicago; Sparafucile for English National Opera and Daland for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. This is Peter Rose’s first appearance with Music of the Baroque.
Peter Rose is a regular guest at the world’s greatest opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Covent Garden; La Scala, Milan; Paris; Rome; Berlin and Munich. Repertoire includes Ochs, Gurnemanz, Ramphis, Fasolt, Somnus, Daland, King Marke, Commendatore, Basilio, Kecal, Banquo, Philip, Prince Gremin, Leporello, Osmin, Zaccaria, Claggart and Falstaff. He won particular acclaim for his performances of Bottom which he sung in Aix-en-Provence, Paris, London, Rome, on the occasion of his debut at the Metropolitan Opera, and for Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
Concert engagements have included Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 with Giulini and Barenboim; Mozart’s Requiem with Mackerras, Barenboim, Mehta, Maazel, Shaw and Jurowski; Mahler's Eighth Symphony with Tilson Thomas; Verdi's Requiem with Rizzi; La Damnation de Faust with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Solti; Ravel's L’Enfant et les Sortileges and L’Heure Espagnole with the Cleveland Orchestra and Boulez; and Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the New York Philharmonic and Masur.
