Before most Music of the Baroque concerts, a free lecture is offered to the public to learn more about the music to be presented during the performance.

Lectures in Evanston typically begin at 6:30 PM in the chapel of First United Methodist Church, just across the courtyard from the church.

When offered, lectures at Harris begin at 6 PM at the Chicago Cultural Center, at Michigan and Randolph, just west of Harris Theater. Lectures there are held in the Randolph Café, inside the north entrance to the center and through the lobby. Keep in mind that you can take the below-ground pedway from the Cultural Center to the Harris: Take the elevator down from the Randolph Street entrance, then follow the signs east to the Harris.

Each lecturer brings a different perspective to the music, adding another dimension to the concert experience. The location and time for each lecture are listed with each concert in the "2008–09 Season."
