About North Shore Center for the Performing Arts:

The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts was designed by Boston based architect/developer Graham Gund and opened in November 1996. The facility includes 68,000 square feet of space, including an 867-seat main hall, and a 342-seat theater which serves as the home for Northlight Theatre. In addition there is a 6,000 square foot grand lobby, a rehearsal hall and conference rooms.

It was constructed at a cost of $18 million. The State of Illinois contributed $13.2 million and the Village of Skokie $3.4 million. The remaining construction funds were contributed by the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Foundation and other private donors.

It is located just off of I-94 (Edens Expressway) about 30 minutes north of downtown Chicago. In addition to a diverse programming schedule, its proximity to Old Orchard Shopping Center, a wide range of restaurants and plenty of free parking make it a convenient and popular destination for entertainment.

The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts is home to several resident companies, including Northlight Theatre, the Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra, and Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra. It also hosts numerous other cultural organizations and special events each year.
