About Holy Name Cathedral

Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Chicago, one of the largest Catholic dioceses in the United States. Dedicated on November 21, 1875, Holy Name Cathedral replaced the Cathedral of Saint Mary, which was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The cathedral was built in the Gothic Revival architectural style while at the same time integrating motifs symbolic of the message of the modern Catholic Church.

The nave of Holy Name contains the suspended Resurrection Crucifix, sculpted by the Italian artist Ivo Demetz. The nave walls display the Stations of the Cross by Italian artist Goffredo Verginelli. These are the Passion, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of Christ. The stations are cast in bronze and framed in red Rocco Alicante marble.

PARKING
The parking garage is 14 W. Superior Street, between Dearborn and State Street, and is located below the tall tower of the One Chicago Square complex on Lower Level One and Lower Level Two. Validation is available in the Cathedral Vestibule.
You will enter the two-way driveway on Superior on your left and then turn left at the end of the driveway to proceed down the ramp.

The Holy Name Cathedral entrance gate will be directly in front of you (do not enter through the entrance gates on your right – they are for the One Chicago Square valet parking staff).

Just pull a parking ticket and the Entrance gates will open. You may park in any non-reserved open space on Lower Level One (LL1) or Lower Level Two (LL2).

Validation is located in the Cathedral vestibule. It is very important that your vehicle leaves the parking garage within the validated time. If you exceed the validated time on your ticket, you will need to pay a fee of $100 to leave the parking garage.
