Jane Glover leads Mozart's "Great" C Minor Mass. With its mighty choruses, sublime solos, and intricate orchestral writing, the Mass is unlike any other church music of its time, looking back to Bach and Handel and offering an extraordinary diversity of style. Soprano Susanna Phillips sings Mozart's glorious motet "Exsultate, jubilate" in a program that also includes stirring music of Beethoven.
Preconcert lectures will take place on Sunday at 6:30 pm (Athens Room, DoubleTree Hotel) and Monday at 6 pm (Chicago Cultural Center) and will be given by Carl Grapentine.
